MARBLEHEAD – Betty Jane (Hanst) Allard, 75, a longtime resident of Marblehead, sadly succumbed to a stroke during her battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Betty was John’s beloved wife Vincent Allard with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. She was the loving and devoted mother of Daniel Albert Allard and his wife, Desiree Allard of Pasadena, CA and Alexandra Allard Bruton and her husband, Isaac Bruton of Beverly; the cherished grandmother of Daniel John Allard and Taylor Adam Bruton; and sister of Joan Deitz of Salem and the late Marjorie Ermogeni, Phillip, Bob, Bill and John Hanst. Betty is also survived by several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Betty was born and educated in West Orange, New Jersey, daughter of the late Howard and Bertha (Donahue) Hanst. She graduated from Andover High School with the Class of 1964. She continued her education beyond graduation by attending and obtaining certificates from Melrose Beauty Academy, Bunker Hill Community College, Marion Court College and NSCC.
Primarily a housewife and housewife, Betty has worked as a legal secretary, hairstylist, seamstress for Marsha’s, veil maker for Hood Sails, pastry chef for Harbor Sweets, jewelry / antiques trader and animal sitter for Creature Comforts. She spent the last years of her career operating her own private home pet sitting business.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, Jan. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell in Marblehead, 142 Elm Street, followed by his funeral at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, Marblehead. (Interment will be private.) In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Marblehead Animal Shelter, Friends of Beverly Animals, Odd Cat Sanctuary, Salem, or an animal shelter in your area. choice.
