MARGAO: Following a tiger sighting, the State Forest Department issued a notice to local Mollem villagers warning them and asking them to take precautions.

In the notice that was sent to the Sarpanch village panchayat of Mollem, Range Forest Officer, Wildlife-Mollem Dr Sidhesh Naik spoke about the precautions that need to be taken due to the presence of tiger movements at the sanctuary of wildlife and Bhagwan Mahavir National Park.

A copy of the notice has also been sent to the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Wildlife in Panjim for information, as well as the Livestock Veterinarian in Mollem to raise awareness among herders.

“In this regard, you are requested to sensitize the public about the movement of tigers in the villages of your panchayat which are within the corridors of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park. Also, villagers can be instructed not to stray livestock such as cattle, goats, etc. for grazing, collecting firewood in the wildlife protected areas of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park to avoid any untoward incidents, read the notice from the forest.
