January 31 – Chatham County to Host Virtual Public Animal Services Pledge Meeting | Local governments and politics

January 31, 2022 – Chatham County Animal Services will host a virtual public engagement meeting to educate and update residents on current services and gather feedback for strategic direction.

Chatham County Animal Services enforces county animal control ordinances and operates the county’s open-admission animal shelter. Animal services officers respond to many complaints, including nuisance complaints, neglect, bite reports, and stray dogs. In 2021, more than 2,300 cats and dogs were either impounded by officers or brought in by citizens of Chatham County. These animals were cared for by shelter staff and, with the help of local rescue, most of them found new homes.

Animal welfare standards are constantly evolving and Animal Services is evolving with them. In doing so, they would like the help of the community we serve. Chatham County Animal Services will hold a public meeting to discuss their services as well as services provided by other members of the community.

This meeting will take place on February 7, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.
