Justin Thomas Anderson, 47, of Charlestown, RI and formerly West Hartford, CT, peacefully assumed the role of executive chef behind the Eternal Line on August 25, 2021. Born September 2, 1973 in Hartford, CT, he was a fan of Whaler and beloved first son of Arthur and Barbara Anderson. In his youth, he felt no sympathy for Goldie Locks’ contempt for personal space and, according to his mother, demonstrated the first signs of culinary meaning by calling chicken wings “chicken on the cob.” Justin was forever drowned by the arrival of his siblings, the talkative and fiercely loyal brother Matthew, equally talkative and often long-winded, sister Laura (McGrath), and watched over by his younger brother, Thomas. Raised in West Hartford, Justin was a graduate of Conard High School in 1992, where with a group of masterly misfits he forged indestructible bonds, whose antics tested the patience of parents and stirrups. of brake. Self-taught musician, mainly 12-string guitar, piano and spoons, he won the talent competition with his dear friend and accomplice Jimmy, for their interpretation of “Bring It on Home to Me” by Sam Cooke. Justin was also a star member of his father’s garage band, Duke and the Esoterics, with an inspired cover of Neil Young’s “Keep on Rockin ‘in the Free World”. He spent his summers in Quonochontaug, RI, getting into trouble with longtime friends, and where he would eventually call home despite his horror of the sand. Justin briefly considered becoming a miner in the experimental off-road with his roommate Andy, at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire before fulfilling his culinary calling. He dated Johnson and Wales in Providence, RI, as he honed his technique and creativity at various established restaurants before stepping up the line at WB Cody’s in Westerly, RI. For many summers, and much to his chagrin, he worked alongside his three younger siblings and jovial friends who only once dared to grab a free sample. After 15 years of succulent barbecues and a cast of Cody’s beloved characters including his best friend Chad, Justin enjoyed his final years at the Breachway Grill in Charlestown, RI. A gifted executive chef, throughout his career, Justin was known for his tireless dedication, diligence and fearlessness. Over the years, he’s refined his signature dishes of chicken scarpello, fish tacos, sweet chili pasta and braised ribs, while constantly pushing the boundaries of swear words, once perfecting a delicate flan recipe for a Breachway Wine Night dinner. A compassionate mentor and peer, he quickly smirked at a harassed colleague. His Breachway family have fond memories of the annual Christmas after-party at his home, as Justin’s door has been kept open to anyone with an affinity for classic vinyl, maracas or the Miami Dolphins. Justin’s legacy lies in lives touched by his gentle, unassuming presence, genuine concern for others, insightful humor, warm cackles and as a three-time Whiffle Cup champion. A faithful friend, he was ready to help others without judgment, unless he was asked to share his spare ribs before the required four hours in the oven. He hated being the center of attention, but he looms large in memories as the person everyone wanted to sit next to, whether at home, tirelessly rooted for the Sox, impromptu chants. at the creek, a rare bonfire appearance, watching the Patriots dolphin beat with a hook and ladder miracle at his brother Matt’s, the holiday dinner table after overseeing his sister’s cooking, on the boat from Chad leisurely cruising the Ninigret Pond, or proudly watching his brother Tommy picking his bass with the Stella Blue’s Band at Garcia’s in Portchester, NY. He cherished being an uncle, worshiping his nieces and nephew, teaching them the art of “false sleep” when tasks were assigned or parent figures came together. He is predeceased by his canine best friend Cody and is survived by countless friends near and far, extended family including loving aunts, uncles and cousins, his parents, three siblings, his Beloved outlaws who saw Justin as their own, Kara. Anderson and Michael McGrath, nieces Ava Anderson (7) and Lucille McGrath (7 months), nephew and godson, Matthew McGrath (6) and his cat, Papi (14). Rest quietly Tin Tin.
