HIGH FALLS, NY – Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit animal sanctuary that rescues farm animals and provides lifelong care, is hosting its second annual “Harvest Picnic Gala” on Saturday, October 15 on the sanctuary grounds at 2 Rescue Road.
The event starts at noon and includes an open bar, raffle, silent auction, goodie bags and a gourmet vegan picnic that takes place in one of the cow pastures so guests can anticipate a picnic with rescued cows.
The gala is the sanctuary’s biggest of the year, with the aim of raising funds to help cover medical expenses, food and other supplies during the winter months.
The sanctuary has nearly 400 rescued farm animals, including cows, chickens, pigs, geese, ducks, turkeys, goats and sheep. With ballooning costs for hay, electricity and other needs, this event provides crucial support for the ongoing work of the sanctuary, according to a press release.
“We are so excited to welcome our community here for the Harvest Picnic this year,” executive director Rachel McCrystal said in the statement. “With so many new people in the Hudson Valley who may be discovering our work, it’s a great time to come meet other farmed animal advocates, eat some amazing local food, and have a picnic. -nice with rescued cows.”
Woodstock Sanctuary said Gabrielle Grigoli of “Gab’s Vegetable” is this year’s chef and Maresa Volante, owner of Sweet Maresa’s in Kingston and Confectionary! in Manhattan, returns to supply the desserts for the picnic. Different tiers of tickets are available now to purchase on the Woodstock Sanctuary website and will sell out quickly. To purchase and learn more, visit www.woodstocksanctuary.org/harvestgala.
