Zombie race to benefit an animal sanctuary scheduled for October 8

Next week, the community is invited to the return of the Zombie A-Paw-Calypse, as Turning Rescues Into Pets hosts its 4th annual 4 the Paws run.

Entry fees for the Oct. 8 race have been cut in half, with runners 10 and under participating for free and anyone over 10 can participate for $15. Family pets can join in the fun for $5.

The race will start at the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter, located at 921 Assistant Reader Jeff G. Watson in Luling.

Check-in at the shelter will begin at 9 a.m., with warm-ups beginning at 10 a.m. The race will begin at 10:15 a.m. and the after party will open at 11:30 a.m. Participants and adoptable students in grades K-9 will run a two-mile course along Judge Dufresne Parkway. Riders are encouraged to wear zombie costumes. After the race there will be an after party with food, music and costume contests.

Proceeds from this event will help TRIP provide medical care to animals at St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter so they are healthy and ready for adoption. So far in 2022, the shelter has taken in 357 dogs and 1,841 cats.
